Since launching last year, Quit Culture has been working hard to create an authentic community where Quitters across Greater Cincinnati can connect and support each other … something that hasn’t always been easy thanks to the pandemic. As you probably know, most of our work has been focused on our Facebook community group and online resources, which is why it was SO exciting to recently attend an in-person event and meet some of our community members out in the real world.
In late-August, a few Quit Culture team members braved the heat to attend The Black Family Reunion—a three-day event that brings people, businesses and communities together to focus on the historic strengths and values of the Black family. The celebration has been a huge piece of Black history and culture in Cincinnati for the last 33 years, and it was an honor to take part in-person this year.
Over two days, we had the chance to talk to attendees at the Quit Culture booth about our mission to change the conversation around smoking in Cincinnati’s Black community, hand out some swag and point a few new Quitters toward the Quit Culture resources that can help them on their quit journey. The team also finally had the chance to show off our new T-shirt made in collaboration with BlaCk Owned at the event.
We hope to see you all soon in the future. The hope is to pop up at some other fun community events before the end of the year. Be sure to keep an eye on our social channels and events calendar for more details!
